Laos Transportation Guide – International Airports
There are three international airports in Laos:
Wattay International Airport: Located in the capital of Laos, Vientiane, it is the country’s main airport. It offers flights to destinations in Asia, including Bangkok, Hanoi, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Laos Transportation Guide – Trains
Currently, there is no train service in Laos, as the country does not have an extensive rail network. However, there are plans to build a train line connecting China to Vietnam through Laos. The project, known as the China-Laos High-Speed Railway, is expected to be completed in the coming years and connect the cities of Kunming, China, to Vientiane, the capital of Laos, and finally to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam.
Once the project is completed, the high-speed train is expected to be a fast and comfortable transportation option for traveling around Laos, especially for travelers wishing to move between major tourist destinations in the north and south of the country. Until then, visitors can choose to travel by bus or private car to get around the country, although travel can be slow due to poor roads and a lack of transportation infrastructure in some areas.
